Summary: The focus of the Scorecard Credit Lead is to ensure efficient scorecard program operations to achieve a high level of customer service to borrowers while operating within the Association’s risk appetite. This position counsels/directs team members focused on analyzing loans that qualify for the Association’s scorecard program. The Scorecard Credit Lead manages the scorecard pipeline through monitoring and helping credit officers overcome obstacles. The ideal candidate will effectively manage workflow production by directly analyzing and approving scorecard loans, counsel staff, liaise with lenders, and recommend process efficiencies to ensure high-quality credit analysis performed in a timely manner. This individual will also aid credit team leaders in meeting reporting requirements outlined in the Scorecard Lending Policy and will assist with model validation activities outlined in the Model Risk Management Program guide.

Position Responsibilities: 
Underwriting and Approve Scorecard Loans/Identify Process Efficiencies (60%)
    • Lead the scorecard workflow production by directly analyzing and approving loans.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance performance and service delivery. 
    • Propose and implement process enhancements and best practices, subject to approval from the SVP-Credit and CCO.
    • Propose ways to streamline workflows to reduce processing times and increase efficiency, subject to approval from the SVP-Credit and CCO.
    • This position will have a level of delegated lending authority sufficient to review and approve scorecard loans analyzed by credit officers without DLA.
    • Annually, review and recommend changes to the Scorecard Underwriting Standards before Board review and approval.
    • Assign scorecard credit actions to credit officers. 
    • Communicate with SVP – Credit to recruit other credit officers to process scorecard loans when the pipeline exceeds timeline thresholds.
Monitoring and Reporting (20%)
    • Monitor scorecard loan workflow and pipeline on the tracking spreadsheet daily.
    • Ensure timely processing of scorecard loan applications by working with credit team members to overcome obstacles, particularly when loans surpass timeline thresholds.
    • Monitor and report on the scorecard pipeline. Measure the number of loan applications processed per team member. Track Average Loan Processing Time (time to process a loan from complete application to approval).
    • Quarterly, prepare a report for the Board with the results of the scorecard lending process, as outlined in the Scorecard Lending Policy.
    • Collaborate with credit leadership, AgVantis, FICO, and the credit bureau for activities related to the scorecard model, as needed.
    • As Model Owner for the scorecard model, be responsible for ongoing maintenance of model documentation and compliance with Model Risk Management program standards, as provided in the MRM Program Guide and Handbook.
    • Annually review the scorecard Model Documentation and Model Review Report in collaboration with the Association-level Risk Committee.
    • Collaborate with the CCO during preparation of the portfolio analysis regarding scorecard loan factors including number of loans, classified volume, average loan size, credit quality, and PD rating.
Counsel and Direct Staff (20%).  
    • Coordinate with CCO, SVP-Credit, and Director-Credit Management.
    • Regularly promote knowledge development with the credit officers and lending officers focusing on scorecard loans
      • regarding the Scorecard Lending Policy, Regulations, and
      • with specific attention to understanding of financial inputs used in scorecard underwriting; recognizing risk indicators; perceiving appropriate level of analysis.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment with a focus on promoting a customer-centric culture. Connects scorecard credit team members with lenders to reach the best credit decision.
    • Counsel and direct credit team members to help them overcome bottlenecks, confusion, or uncertainty.
    • Address and propose resolutions to lender inquiries, issues, or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
    • Function as lead subject matter for credit officers and lending officers.
    • Meet with the CCO, SVP – Credit, and CBDO on a regular basis.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, agricultural economics, or related field.
  • Experience in credit analysis or scorecard lending experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Working knowledge of financial ratios.
  • Working knowledge of scorecard underwriting.
  • Proficient in interpreting tax returns, balance sheets, cash flows and financial documents.
  • Skill in counseling and motivating team members
